This is an original Princess Anne Spitting Image puppet which came to me from Michael Dixon who runs The National Puppet Archive. 

 

The puppet head was in a reasonable condition apart from a tear in the neck caused by the weight of her substantial hair! The existing stand was not supporting any of this weight so I built a new stand to hold the back of her head. I also rebuilt the neck do disguise the tear and reinforced it from inside the neck to strengthen the weak point. 

 

As always I restored Prince Anne to be sympathetic to its authentic condition, maintaining the original features and paint work and ageing the restored areas appropriately.
